Our Story

Drunken Bee Meadery was founded by two friends, Michael and Sam, who have known each other for more than half their lives.

Since mid-2024, they have been on a mission to revive the world’s oldest drink in a way that’s as fresh and innovative as it is delicious. As they put it, “mead made modern”. They are passionate about creating and crafting session meads (like cider, but made with honey) that they are proud to drink themselves, while being committed to sustainability. After all, without bees there would be no honey and without honey, there's no mead.

Every can we craft is 100% natural, gluten-free, and sulphite-free.

Transparency and honesty are at the heart of what we do – we believe in keeping things real, with no secrets or shortcuts.

Our mead is made from two types of honey, and we are dedicated to protecting the pollinators that make it possible. Bees are crucial to our ecosystem, our food supply, and the biodiversity of our planet.

Kindness and giving back to the community is a core value for us, rooted deeply in our upbringing. Both our parents dedicated their careers to NGO work, so we’ve seen firsthand the importance of contributing to society. Whilst we remain chained to the corporate world, we are determined to do our bit and make a positive impact by supporting local initiatives and fostering a spirit of generosity and community. So here’s to the bold, the kind, and the honest – because that’s what we pour into every drink. And let’s not forget, the bees. They are awesome, so we’re here to keep them buzzing.
